HISTORY

The Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation was founded in 1977 as a not-for-profit corporation and is recognized by the United States Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. All contributions to the Foundation are tax deductible.

The Foundation is governed by an all volunteer 27-member board of directors, appointed by the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth. The Board is composed of some of Denver’s most distinguished leaders who are dedicated to the legacy of Saint Joseph Hospital and ensuring that the hospital remains a vital Denver health care provider.

The Foundation has eleven staff members who are engaged in fund-raising and management of donated funds. In addition, more than 220 volunteers support the Saint Joseph Hospital mission by donating thousands of hours of time and talent to departments throughout the hospital and to a variety of fund-raising activities.

In an average year, the Foundation contributes $1.8 million in support of Saint Joseph Hospital and its programs. Fundraising efforts focus on four major areas of support: Charity Care Programs, Medical and Nursing Education, Capital Needs and Community Health Programs.

100% of donations made to the Foundation are applied to the projects or programs designated by the donor.
