On Sunday, June 27, the Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation held the 26th Annual Stadium Stampede™ at INVESCO Field at Mile High.  More than 1200 participants enjoyed a beautiful day as they participated in the event Colorado Runner readers have voted Denver’s “Best 5K”. The Stadium Stampede™, held in partnership with the Denver Broncos Football Club, raised more than $150,000 for charity medical care programs at Saint Joseph Hospital.

“This event could not have happened without the support of our major sponsors including Wells Fargo, SJHF Volunteers, Kaiser Permanente, Exempla Healthcare and many others.” Carl Unrein, Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation President & CEO.  “It is very gratifying knowing that these sponsors help the foundation and the hospital provide medical care to the poor and uninsured.”

Runners and walkers enjoyed a beautiful course that takes you along the Platte River bike path and finishes through the Stadium where participants could see themselves on Thundervision®.  Following the race, everyone enjoyed free food and refreshments, live music from Raygunomics and a fitness expo.  Special congratulations to pulmonary rehab patients that make up the Huff-N-Puff Team and completed their 1K challenge!  

The Stadium Stampede couldn't happen without the hard-working steering committee that organizes the event and the many volunteers who make it run smoothly. Committee members included both hospital employees and community members. More than 50 volunteers donated their time to make sure runners and walkers were registered, well-fed and hydrated, entertained and rewarded.

And the winners are...
Simon Chepot with a time of 14:24 and Adriana Nelson with a time of 17:01.  Congratulations!  The winners took home $500 and a complimentary airline ticket compliments of Polk Majestic Travel Group.
